About the investor
The El Comercio Group decides to strategically diversify through investment in two sectors: entertainment and education. In the education sector, it partners with Salkantay Partners, a Private Equity fund with a very experienced team. As a first initiative, a change of institutional image is carried out under the “Avansys” brand. The medium-term project includes expanding its portfolio with colleges and universities.
Transaction summary
The owners of the IPAL institute were looking to sell 100% of their shares. It was an unusual transaction because the company's accounting was very disorganized and much of the value of the business was based on its real estate assets. UNE contacted the team of the Salkantay Partners investment fund, who had enough experience to understand the complexity of the operation and a lot of interest in the education sector with the help of Grupo El Comercio. After a tough negotiation process, a beneficial agreement was reached for both parties.
